Literacy Interventionist II

Primary Purpose: To provide small-group literacy intervention to K-5 or 6-8 students in public schools, assist Literacy Consultants with diagnostic evaluation and intervention at the assigned campus, administer progress-monitoring assessments, provide timely reports, and serve as a resource to teachers and support staff when needed.
Dyslexia intervention may also be required by a client.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Master’s degree in Education preferred
Texas Educator certification in ELAR EC-6 or 4-8
Reading Specialist or Master Reading Teacher certification
Formal training in dyslexia intervention preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, TEA updates in reading and writing including STAAR, and best practices
Knowledge and expertise administering, scoring, and interpreting diagnostic assessments in reading and writing, especially informal reading inventories
Knowledge and expertise in planning targeted reading intervention and designing purposeful lesson plans to meet specific student needs
Knowledge and expertise in progress-monitoring assessments and documentation
Ability to attend all scheduled training sessions and meetings, usually on Saturdays
Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
Self-starter, dependable, committed, service-oriented, motivational and inspiring, fun
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability and willingness to build strong relationships with parents and students
Must have a heart for children, a great attitude and disposition towards teaching, and the willingness and ability to go the extra mile to close academic gaps in students
High standards of professional conduct, ethics, and confidentiality
Punctuality a must

Experience:

At least three years of successful ELAR classroom teaching experience in elementary or middle school
At least one-year experience providing small-group reading intervention to K-5 or 6-8 students in pull-out settings, preferred
Experience providing specialized instruction to dyslexic students, preferred
Successful experience in Reading and Writing STAAR preparation to elementary or middle-school students
Campus leadership experience preferred
Experience training, coaching, or mentoring children and adults
Salary/Schedule: Compensation based on qualifications and experience. This is a short-term position based on contract length. Rehiring as needed..
